Selecting the Right Vibratory Bowl Part Feeding Solutions

CDS LIPE: Premier Automated Material Handling Systems Expert.

Selecting the right Vibratory Bowl Part Feeding Solutions requires evaluating part geometry, required feed rates, and material characteristics. Engineers must match the specific component mass with the correct drive technology and bowl configuration to ensure a seamless assembly process. Consequently, a well-chosen system optimizes Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by providing consistent part orientation and reducing mechanical downtime.

Dyna-Feed Vibratory Feeders are available with sound and environmental enclosures suitable to meet the application requirements.

How to Determine Your Feeding Requirements?

As a process engineer, you must first define the physical constraints of your components. Because every part behaves differently under vibration, you should start with a detailed analysis of the following factors:

  • Part Geometry: Does the part have a clear center of gravity?
  • Surface Finish: Is the part fragile or prone to cosmetic damage?
  • Feed Rate: How many parts per minute (PPM) must the system deliver?
  • Environment: Does the application require food-grade or washdown-duty materials?

What are the Primary Bowl Designs for Part Feeding?

CDS LIPE offers the Dyna-Feed line, which includes several proven mechanical configurations. Each design serves a specific industrial purpose.

Vibratory Bowl Part Feeding Solutions

Best know as the manufacturer of Dyna-Slide Part Feeding and Accumulation Systems CDS LIPE has provided vibratory part feeding solutions since 1972. CDS LIPE’s Feed-A-Matic line of vibratory bowl feeders is being reintroduced as Dyna-Feed Vibratory Bowl Feeders. This is a proven product with a deep design history. Bowls are available in either Cast Aluminum or Stainless Steel. The Dyna-Feed Vibratory Bowl Feeders, are available in Conical, Step Design, Cylindrical as well as Outside Track and Multi-Track designs. Feeders are supplied with CE marking, thus conforming to the latest, most stringent safety standards. Dyna-Feed Vibratory Bowl Feeders are available with both Half Wave and FULL WAVE drives. Half Wave drives are ideal for heavy parts, Full Wave drives are well suited for smaller, precision parts. The Full Wave design has lower maintenance cost and consumes 40% LESS ENERGY as compared to HALFWAVE technology

CDS LIPE is well known for its’ distinguished record as a manufacturer of reliable automated feeding and orientation components, equipment and systems. Our application engineering group has decades of experience. Allow us to provide you with a part, package or material handling solution for your next automation application. We are so confident in our professional services and the durability and performance of our products we are pleased to offer Dyna-Feed components, equipment and Dyna-Feed based automated systems with an 18 month warranty.

Expert Q&A: Vibratory Bowl Part Feeding Solutions

Q: When should I choose a stainless steel bowl over cast aluminum?

A: You should select stainless steel for pharmaceutical, food, or abrasive applications. Conversely, cast aluminum is a cost-effective choice for general industrial parts that do not require washdown procedures.

Q: Can these systems handle multiple part sizes in one bowl?

A: Yes, but it requires adjustable tooling. However, for maximum efficiency, we recommend dedicated bowls for high-volume unique parts to prevent jams.

Q: How does the Dyna-Feed system reduce energy costs?

A: By utilizing Full Wave drive technology, the system optimizes the electromagnetic pulse.
